Certificate: | Nicole Kidman, Christopher Eccleston, Fionnula Flanagan, Elaine Cassidy, Eric Sykes |
Length: 100 minutes | Director: Alejandro Amenabar |
Rating: | Shortly after World War II, Grace (Kidman) moves to a large mansion in Jersey along with her two children who have a skin condition which prevents them from being exposed to sunlight. While waiting for husband to return from the war, she hires three servants to help her cope. However the servants arrival triggers the unleashing of supernatural goings on. This is a classic ghost story which builds up a chilling and spooky atmosphere through the use of story and unseen events. This technique is far scarier than the usual CGI movies of late, so be prepared to get seriously scared. Nicole Kidman is impressive in her portrayal of a deeply principalled woman verging on insanity, which should lead her to her second successive film (hot on the heels of Moulin Rouge) receiving both critical and box office acclaim. |
